ABOUT

WHO I AM:

My name is François Saikaly Jr and I am a freelance cinematographer / line producer based in Seoul, South Korea. My main areas of focus are in documentary, news, and promotional & corporate video production.

I am from Ottawa, Canada and have been working in video production for over 15 years, 11 of which were in Seoul. I am a graduate from Algonquin College’s Television Broadcasting program in Ottawa. English is my native language, and I have a professional proficiency in French and in Korean.

 

WHY SEOUL?

Because I love living here. For a very long time I have had an interest in Korean culture and learning Korean. After a few long vacations here I quickly learned that it’s a very fun place to live with a lot of interesting things to experience. Moving to Seoul was a very easy and natural choice for me.

 

WHAT I’VE DONE:

I have a considerable amount of experience working in news production and corporate production. In the news world I have filmed news stories for CBS News, Olympic Channel, CNN, Euro News, AFP and more. 

I’ve also coordinated with various international agencies and production companies to shoot corporate and promotional content for big brands like for One Championship, Siemens, Nikon, Audi, TOTAL, Airbus and more.

In 2022 I got my first credit as a DOP for a documentary called “The Show Must Go On”.

 

WHAT I VALUE:

I am very passionate about the work that I do and am always aiming to produce the best results when working on a production. I am very happy to either work alone or with a team and I strongly believe that hard work, flexibility, and creating an environment that is fun for everyone to work in very important.
